Our Mission

Man_of_Distinction-Final-Outlines-White_

Man of Distinction is the first of the Mens stores for owner Kristin Halpape - following in the distinguished footsteps of two successful ladies consignment stores.  The first of the two stores launched in Okotoks, AB in 2005 - Rhoda's Elegance...Again. The second opened its doors in 2012 in the spot Man of Distinction Calgary resides today. After an opportunity to expand the woman's store, Expressions Ladies Consignment moved just a few doors down.

What is in store?
What do you carry?

All brands, sizes, styles are welcomed - however, we do try to stock the store with styles that are more fashionable and items we know will sell.

What items do we consign?

Shoes, belts, ties, sweaters, shirts, pants, jeans, jewelry, hats, etc. We carry small through to larger sizes.

We have a diverse understanding of our client base and are very familiar with the brands and sizes that sell most often, our team will give preference to these items. We also take into consideration our store stock and may not accept items we have an abundance of.

What is consignment?

Consignment is a process where you bring in your gently used clothes and we sell them for you. Once your items sell, a percentage of the sale is deposited into an account that can either be used as credit in one of our stores or collected via cash or cheque.

How does this work?

Bring in your gently used clothing during business hours and we will access which items we can accept and open an account for you We will then set up an account andAnything that isn't selected for our stores can either be donated or returned to you.

How do I get paid?

Once your items have sold, 40% of the sale value will go directly into your account. You can contact the store that you dropped off your clothes at or you can come into the store to inquire about your account balance. Any owing balance can be used towards an in store purchase or can be picked up via cash or cheque.

Which kind of clothes are accepted?

We accept gently used and like new items that are trendy and high quality brand names. All clothing must be freshly laundered and free of any rips, holes or stains. We only accept current and up to date styles  that are season specific. These items can include accessories, clothing and footwear.

When do I bring items in?

We accept clothing for consignment during business hours and do not require an appointment.  We accept clothing seasonally although we understand that some items are not season specific. We ask that you save those season specific items for their designated seasonal window to maximize their chance of selling.

Spring/Summer items are accepted from February until July

Fall/Winter items are accepted August until December

Common questions:
Do I need to make an appointment to drop off my clothing?

No. If you have like-new fashions that you wish to sell, simply bring your items to our store. Our friendly staff will then evaluate them and let you know what we will accept.

Should I bring clothing on a hanger?

No. We prefer that you bring your items in a bag or a box. We will lightly steam all clothing for proper presentation before it goes on the floor up for sale.

How do I check the dollar amount on my account?

Simply call or come by the store you dropped your clothing at, one of our staff can help you. Your money will stay on your account until you use it or take it. Your money will not expire.

How do I know if my clothes are ok?

We are always accepting new or like-new fashions, items should be:
- Designer or high-end fashions and accessories
- Current style
- In very good condition with little sign of wear
- Clean. We cannot accept items that have stains or odours
It is also important to note that we accept items on a season schedule:

Spring/Summer items are accepted from February until July
Fall/Winter items are accepted August until December

What if my items don't sell?

We do our best to highlight all of our customer's clothing and offer sales and promotions to encourage additional sales. If your items do not sell within 3 months, they will be donated to charity to further help those in need of quality clothing. We do not offer a pick up option.
